Ludalbin,a new lactone from Artemisia ludoviciana

Artemisia ludoviciana Nutt. ssp. albula (Woot.) Keck, a member of the vulgaris complex, contains a sesquiterpene lactone, ludalbin, which is 8-α-acetoxydouglanine.     

Isolation and characterization of bacteriophage FC3-10 from Klebsiella spp.

FC3-10 is a Klebsiella spp. specific bacteriophage isolated on a rough mutant (strain KT707, chemotype Rd) of K. pneumoniae C3. The bacteriophage receptor for this phage was shown to be the low-molecular mass lipopolysaccharide (LPS) fraction (LPS-core oligosaccharides), specifically the heptose content of the LPS inner-core. This is the first phage isolated on Klebsiella, the receptor for which is the LPS-core. This phage was unable to plate on Salmonella typhimurium LPS mutants with chemotypes Rd2 or Re showing incomplete or no heptose content on their LPS-core, respectively. Spontaneous phage-resistant mutants from different Klebsiella strains were deep-rough LPS mutants or encapsulated revertants from unencapsulated mutant strains.     

Effects of Methoxsalen from Poncirus trifoliata on Acetylcholinesterase and Trimethyltin-Induced Learning and Memory Impairment

Previously, we identified methoxsalen (8-methoxy-2′,3′,6,7-furocoumarin) as the bioactive compound probably responsible for acetylcholinesterase (AchE) inhibition achieved by feeding crude extract of Poncirus trifoliate. To confirm the activity of methoxsalen, Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) mice were fed a control or a methoxsalen-supplemented diet for 4 weeks, and then learning and memory enhancing effects with respect to trimethyltin (TMT)-induced neurotoxicity were evaluated. The brain tissues of ICR mice were dissected after completion of the behavioral tests for biochemical analysis. Methoxsalen effectively reversed TMT-induced memory impairment on both Y-maze and passive avoidance tests. Brain AchE activity was inhibited by the oral consumption of all concentrations of methoxsalen. Moreover, the level of oxidative stress was significantly ameliorated in the groups on methodsalen containing diets. This is the first in vivo study conducted with methoxsalen in the field of AD research, and it indicates that further investigation of methoxsalen is warranted.

自我们近年发表一系列牡丹组分类文章以来, 国内外基本上赞同我们8个种的分类系统,但对一些问题仍有不同见解。本文进一步申述牡丹Paeonia suffruticosa Andrews 是一个独立的种而不是人工杂种, 以及银屏牡丹P. suffruticosa ssp. yinpingmudan是牡丹P. suffruticosa的野生类型而不是逸生的P. ostii的理由。上述论点也得到了分子树的支持。P. jishanensis T. Hong &; W. Z. Zhao是一个合法名称, 而P. spontanea (Rehder) T. Hong &; W. Z. Zhao则确实是一个多余名。太白山紫斑牡丹的学名应是P. rockii ssp. atava (Brühl) D. Y. Hong &; K. Y. Pan, 因此P. moutan Sims ssp. atava Brühl不应是可疑的分类群。本文还对Halda的6个组合和两个杂交种名作了处理。结果, 本文包括了5个新异名和一个新组合。     

采用秋水仙碱创制优质、抗热同源四倍体不结球白菜

以不同浓度秋水仙素处理二倍体不结球白菜(Brassica campestrisssp.chinensisM ak ino)子叶生长点,对变异株进行了形态解剖学、农艺学、细胞学及营养品质鉴定。结果表明:0.1 mol/L秋水仙素处理6次的效果最佳。与二倍体相比,四倍体植株、气孔、花器官均表现巨大性;气孔密度、结实率显著降低;四倍体白菜蛋白质、可溶性糖和维生素C含量比二倍体分别增加15.69%、71.25%和22.18%;夏季高温条件下四倍体表现出良好的丰产性和抗热性。
